Zadar

ZADAR CITY is located in the heart of the Adriatic sea and makes the urban center of northern Dalmatia as the administrative, economic, cultural and political center of the region with a population of nearly 90,000.

Its natural location at the junction of geographically diverse Croatian regions, surrounded by historical towns such as Nin, Pag, Biograd, Obrovac, Benkovac and many others, is easily accessible and attractive destination for visitors from all over the world, whether by sea, land or air.

Natural resources
The extremely indented coast, islands and untouched nature lures many tourists to this area. The archipelago of 24 larger and even 300 small islands and cliffs, 3 nature parks - Telašćica, North Velebit and Lake Vrana and 5 national parks - Paklenica, Plitvice, Kornati, Krka and Velebit place Zadar and its surroundings at the top of the Croatian tourist offer.

Gastronomic offer

Numerous restaurants and taverns in Zadar have a taste of local specialties, while the famous Maraskino liqueur stands out among the drinks. That unique drink is still in the XIX. century was a favorite in European courts (London, Vienna, Moscow), and in Zadar it has been produced since 1821. One of the better places in Zadar that we recommend for top gastronomic pleasure is certainly the restaurant Foša, Zadar Jadera and Two Fishermen (the old town center - Peninsula ), Rafaelo Tavern and Niko Restaurant.

 

Sports and recreation

They are top conditions for recreation and sports. There are numerous tennis courts, football fields, basketball, handball, there are great opportunities for water activities, sailing, surfing, boating, diving, fishing...

 

 

Culture and art

It has a rich and diverse cultural and artistic life. The Musical Evenings in Donat, the Festival of the New Theater, the Zadar Theater Summer and various art events are traditionally held. We definitely recommend visiting the Museum of Permanent Church Art - "Gold and Silver of Zadar" and the Museum of Ancient Glass.
